Some examples of tools for the CAD systems Advance Steel and ProSteel

Display and filter tools improve the work on big projects significantly

Edit tools help to deal with the project data.

Creation tools create intelligent connections or structural objects. These tools automate the creation of components.

Production data tools generate production documents automatically and check components like handrails, bolted kick plates or gratings. If they are standard components their production data can be generated. The production data is exported to the system drawings and their tables. There is no need to create detail drawings for these parts.

Numbering tools use clients specific criteria in the numbering process. There can be individual numbers for types of single parts, groups or assemblies. Template parts from libraries can be used in numbering.
The numbering tool for bolts numbers the bolt sets and creates part lists.

Check tools allow to visually control groups, make individual collision tests, check connections or test, if parts are standard components.

AS straight beam stretch direction

This tool allows to restrict the stretch direction of straight beams to the beam direction. If the restriction is set a beam can not get stretched in any other direction.

AS Cut Beam At Line

This tool cuts beams at a picked line, a line defined by 2 Points or by a plane that is defined by picking 3 points. For the line version the cut plane is defined by the line and the z direction of the UCS. After defining the cut the user selects the beam at the side to cut off.

AS Welded RHS Braces

This tool is inserting welded rhs braces and filling posts between columns of welded constructions in a loop. It uses calculated default values but also allows to select values for beam sections and geometry from a database.

AS Assembly Viewer

This tool allows to iterate thtrough the assemblies in a model and see them isolated and zoomed to. This way it is possible to check the visually.

PS Handrail Extension

The tool is an addition to the block version of the PsHandrail command. It drills the platform beams after the creation of the handrail parts and bolts the handrail to the platform beams. It creates a useful group structure - all loose parts are grouped, the handrail receives a hierarchy, the posts of the handrail are grouped as subgroups. The main part is the top rail.

PS Production data for standard parts 5: Handrails

The tool creates the production data for standard handrails. The data is stored in system drawings and their tables.

The tool uses a library of definitions for standard handrails. For each standard type the cross section is defined, there are design rules (e.g. miter cuts or bends) and each type definition has a set of typical posts and ends allocated. The checks create error lists. Display tools help to allocate errors.

PS Production data for standard parts 4: Shim plates

This tool creates the production data for standard shim plates. The data is stored in system drawings and their tables.

The tool uses a library with definitions for standard shim plates. For each type design rules exist. Faulty shim plates are colored according to the type of error. For each type there is a system drawing to store the production data.

PS Production data for standard parts 3: Gratings

This tool is generating the production data for standard gratings. It has a test part and an export part. The production data is exported to the system drawings with an illustration of the standard grating and their tables.

The basic form of a standard grating is rectangular. One corner can be cut off and the grating can also contain two rectangular cutouts. The tool checks the orientation of the grating. Faulty gratings are colored according to the type of error.

PS Production data for standard parts 2: Kick plates

The tool generates the production data for bolted kick plates. The production data is exported to system drawings and their tables.

The hole patterns and the end cuts of the kick plates are defined. For each type sub types with unique system drawings are created.

PS Production data for standard parts 1: Concept

Standard parts are defined by a set of rules. These rules refer to the properties and the geometry of groups and their parts. Their production data is exported to system drawings. The creation of detail drawings then becomes obsolete. Standard types are devided into sub types to ensure simple system drawings. Their frequency and their complexity are reasons if a sub type should be used. More complex types are hard to illustrate in the system drawings and rare types are not idealy suited for the concept of system drawings.

PS Wearplate Bolting Tool

This tool connects wear plates and their base plates with welded studs. It is a parametric connection. There is a user dialog to edit the connection.

The tool checks the geometric relations - touching, overlapping - of base and wear plate. All wear plates have the same top view for detailing. Studs in rectangular wear plates are inserted according to a predefined pattern. The properties of the studs are editable, studs may be moved, copied and deleted.

PS Model Browser

The Model browser is a tool that you can use to filter, check and edit your model. Similar to the Detail Center the model parts are presented as a tree structure.

Display functions zoom to parts that are selected in the treeview or hide all parts except those selected. In addition to this the tool also shows parts in the context of their groups. The material of parts can be edited with ease. Furthermore detail styles also can be allocated.

PS Group Tool

This tool has two functions. The first can edit the names of ProSteel groups and the second allows ProSteel groups to be checked visually.

The check part allows movement through a set of groups. Each group is shown individually and zoomed to. This is done manually or with a play function. Groups can be colored. The editing function allocates either the main part name as group name or a name from a text file of typical group types.

PS Numbering Tool

This tool offers criteria for numbering that go far beyond standard ProSteel. Parts can be numbered taking their location into account. Types of components can have their own set of numbers. Also template parts from a library can be used in numbering, their numbers will be allocated to identical components. In numbering both sides of a grating are taken into account. The acis mode can be used to improve identical part detection.

This tool is customized. The single part numbers of group parts always start with 1. Typical components are used for numbering and have predefined group numbers. The tool also deals with standard parts. They have their own type of position number.

PS Freeform cladding components

This tool creates mounting profiles for a freeform cladding system and exports the production data of these components into the tables of system drawings.

The nets are checked to verify their plausibility. Rules for the creation of the components exist. Options are used to define the individual form of the nodes.

PS Bolt Numbering Tool

The bolt numbering tool allows to seperately number the parts of bolt sets - bolts or threaded rods, nuts, washers - and also to create part lists.

This version is customized to a client's demands. It restores the colors of bolts and checks the allocation of bolts to ISO 4014 / ISO 4017 according to their diameter and length. It also contains a function to add 5 or 10mm length to all bolts of a particulat type or to an individual bolt.

PS Small Tools

Small Tools is a selection of basic tools that we have designed to help with the daily work load.
They include a tool to set the clipping of views and a tool to delete logical links. There is also a tool to restore the color of bolts.
